Popular Science Tells Scientists to “Stop Looking”

In the April 2014 issue of Popular Science, the is asking scientists to stop doing science that might reach Politically Correct conclusions. Specifically stop doing neuroscience looking at the differences between men and women because the results might support politically incorrect stereotypes. The call (and title of the article) is to “Stop Looking For 'Hardwired' Differences In Male And Female Brains.”

Understand exactly what “Popular Science” is calling for. Stop doing scientific research that might lead to evidence that sex based stereotypes are based on real physiologic differences in males and females. “Popular Science” believes that evidence that doesn’t support the feminist position that the differences between boys and girls is socially induced and not rooted in biological differences, and that scientists should not do any research that might upset their belief. Even the primary example they use to illustrate their point, actually proves the opposite.

”In the past decade, several thousand papers have been published on sex differences in the human brain. Many physical differences are genuine, but oftentimes not meaningful. Take for example, an easily measurable characteristic: size. One study recorded men’s brain volumes at 1,053 to 1,499 cubic centimeters and women’s at 975 to 1,398. The overlap means you couldn’t tell the sex of a random brain from its size.”

How is a simple measurement that can clearly identify sex of more than a third of all samples not meaningful. Saying that you can't tell the sex of a random brain from its size ignores the fact that any adult human brain smaller than 1053 cc is female, and any larger than 1398 cc is male. Because about a third of human brains are larger than 1053 cc or smaller than 1398 cc that data IS meaningful, so too is the fact that there is a two thirds overlap in brain size between the sexes. The hard fact is that the average size of women’s brains is 1187 cc and the average size of a men’s brains is 1276 cc, that 7% difference is meaningful.

New research also indicates that there is a difference between how men’s and women’s brains are wired. The research indicates that men have stronger connections within a given hemisphere, whereas women have stronger connections between the two. Again there is overlap but a clear measurable difference in total population studied. Just as brain size and intelligence are clearly related. In 2005, psychologist Michael McDaniel evaluated studies that used brain-imaging and standard intelligence tests and found that unequivocally, bigger brains correlated with smarter people [source: McDaniel]. The overlap in male/female brain size is meaningful too; when scientists converted the SAT scores of 100,000 17- and 18-year-olds to a corresponding IQ score and found that males averaged 3.63 IQ points higher than the females. Since you all know that the average IQ is 100, that means that although men have on average a 7% larger brain it only results in about average 3% increase in IQ. Thus when looking at the totality of populations, the differences are real, measurable, and meaningful, but those real difference do not correlate to any specific individual.

This all points to the very un-PC fact that men and women are different. Casual observation and in-depth statistical analysis will show you that there are far more men in engineering than women, and there are far more women in nursing and teaching than men. Both are valued and worthy professions, and the bias we see in men/women self-select those professions is clearly observable and scientifically rational. The overlap in human brains between the sexes is why there are individuals of either sex who excel and are successful in avocations that stereotypically populated by the other sex; while the reason there are sex based stereotypical avocations is because as a whole men and women are different in observable measurable ways that results in them self-selecting different vocations. So historically and scientifically we readily observe that on the whole men are more suited for some vocations and women more suited for others.

It is not politically correct to note there are clear historic and scientific facts that indicate that men and women have real physiologic and neurologic differences that result in differing abilities and preferences. “Popular Science” now is pushing to stop research that might actually scientifically quantify those differences. This is why people are now doubting scientists as a reliable source of the truth. It can be clearly observed that if the science doesn’t reach the preconceived outcome that the ruling elite desire it is not published, hidden, covered up, and not funded (Watch the documentary “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed”). Truth is the victim of political correctness. “Popular Science” has clearly gone the way of 1984 and is a purveyor of newspeak not truth.

It’s not just Popular Science. Rather than debate, discuss, and look at the science of global warming, any talk, article, reference, etc. to ideas and research that doesn’t support the theory of Anthropogenic Climate Change is forbidden from the LA Times. Canadian weather forecasters are forbidden from discussing climate change. The is a clear scientific link between abortion and breast cancer you don’t read about that in the news. The real reasons pro-lifers are pro-life are never mentioned (they are characterized as women-haters, even though there are more women than men in the pro-life movement). The MSM is dominated by newspeak, 1984 was prophetical not allegorical.

The statists in our country are attacking the truth, we are seeing our liberty and freedoms eroded at medieval rates. Statists at our colleges and universities openly call for censorship of ideas they don’t want discussed or expressed. Statists in the press routinely refuse to report and actively deny and slander news that doesn’t support the statist agenda. Now even Popular Science calls for scientific research to stop because the truth might not support current PC positions. This coincides with the open attack on Christianity, the religion that lead to the scientific method, the religion that lead to the enlightenment and libertarian thinking. Truth leads to freedom, Christ said, “you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Popular Science is so worried that the truth might not lead to PC conclusions, it tells scientists to “Stop Looking.”

Popular Science is basically saying “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.”

Media ignores Massive Civil Disobedience

It what may be the biggest act of civil disobedience since the Revolutionary War, somewhere around 100-300 thousand Connecticut Citizens are giving the middle finger to the State. Told they must register scary looking guns and standard sized magazines by Jan. 1, 2014 massive numbers of gun owners just ignored the law. Bigger and better than some protest, massive numbers of people simply said, “no.” In general the main stream media has ignored this.

The reason, it shows the government as weak and powerless against the people. Connecticut has a choice, it can arrest and imprison hundreds of thousands of citizens, or lose in court for unequal enforcement of the law if it tries to make “examples” of a few people. The idiot statist politicians assumed that because they would, and the people they know (fellow statists) would follow the law, that the good citizens of Connecticut wouldn’t dare ignore they dictates.

They were wrong. Seeing guns getting confiscated on a whim in New York and California. Not trusting the State to not change the rules, which history shows will happen. Looking at the now commonplace abuse by State law enforcement. The citizens of Connecticut justly told the state that it has no business tracking their guns any more than the state has a right to track our hands; our hammers; or our baseball bats. The right to life and the right to defend it are natural inalienable, owning the tools to do that are not any of the State’s business.

Connecticut cannot do anything about it either. The State doesn’t have the resources to hire the lawyers it would need to prosecute hundreds of thousands of people, much less jail them, especially if they simply refuse to pay the fines. Debtors prison is illegal. The ruling elite has ignored and flouted the Rule of Law, this has undermined the States authority to the point where the people can and will simply ignore it. Mike Lawlor, the state’s top official in criminal justice said, “A lot of it is just a question to ask, and I think the firearms unit would be looking at it. They could send them a letter.”

They Statists in government are now scared, they realize that they have a problem and don’t know what to do. Connecticut State Sen. Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford, , the ranking GOP member of the legislature’s public safety committee, said, “I honestly thought from my own standpoint that the vast majority would register. If you pass laws that people have no respect for and they don’t follow them, then you have a real problem.”

The reality is, sending a letter to gun owners suspected of owning guns that the law required them to register or dispose of their weapons, will be as effective as the law to register them has been. We the People have quite simply nullified the law. The Hartford Courant Editorial Board suggests that Authorities should use the background check database as a way to find assault weapon purchasers who might not have registered those guns in compliance with the new law. That is exactly why gun groups have opposed background checks, the fears that the statists and anti-gun crowd said were baseless are true.

The main stream press covered Connecticut’s December gun registration drive. Now that the results show that massive civil disobedience, they are silent. The press is silent because it demonstrates to all lovers of liberty that the state can be defeated, without a shot, without the press, just by ignoring their laws. That is scary for the statists and the press. The reason you won’t see trials of citizens with un-registered weapons is that juries can and will refuse to convict. The people know that gun owners aren’t felons for refusing to make it easier for the state to confiscate their weapons. All that has to happen is 1 juror refuse to convict. Look at Philly now, they don’t even bother to take to trial most pot possession charges, they know the defendant even if proven guilty will not be convicted.

Connecticut has around 3.5 million people, and the state estimates that there are around 350,000 assault weapons only about 12% registered. That means that the chances of any member of a jury being an owner of an assault weapon are good, and would probably refuse to convict. You can’t enslave a free man who loves liberty, all you can do is kill them. Lots of Americans hold in their hearts, the sentiment, “Give me Liberty or give me Death.” What the state didn’t consider was that people in mass would not obediently comply. Their Hubris will be their undoing. We the People will only suffer their oppression to a point. We’ve reached that point as the good citizens of Connecticut have demonstrated. A few people ignoring a law can be written off as criminal kooks but a hundred thousand plus giving the government the finger is a clear message to the State. A message they don’t like and don’t want to accept.

Connecticut now has a massive number of people with assault weapons who have clearly said, “We will not comply!” What’s it going to do about hundreds of thousands of armed citizens refusing to obey? The last time a government tried to send in troops to confiscate weapons from Yankees in that part of the country didn’t fare so well for the troops or government. It resulted in a long drawn out guerrilla war where the people refused to play by the rules, and ultimately ending in the people being self-governing and not under the thumb of the ruling elite. They then gave the ruling elite of the world the finger, daring to start their new constitution with the words “We the People.” Then going so far as to restrict the State from infringing on the mere people’s right to keep and bear arms. Statists have been working for over 200 years to try and put the people back in their rightful place. They forget one very important fact, massive amounts of people in the USA would rather Live Free, or Die

Live Free, or Die not as eloquent as Thomas Paine’s famous Give me Liberty or Give me Death, but a reality for more people than the state would believe. Obama now famously refused to negotiate on the budget and won. We the People, even in “liberal” Connecticut, are equally as intransient concerning our guns. The Hubris of Legacy Media

This morning I read a fluff piece about Dean Baquet, Pulitzer Prize winner and managing editor of The New York Times, who last night spoke at the Foster-Foreman Conference of Distinguished Writers about the changing world of journalism. I choked and coffee spewed out my nose as I read, “It is not my fear that newspapers will die, my only fear is that the craft of witnessing and reporting on the truth will die.” I didn’t believe he had the balls to spout such dribble.

Such hubris and hypocrisy can only come from the New York Times (NYT). The NYT has a long history of covering up the truth and only in their minds are they the “newspaper of record.” The one thing you can count on from the NYT is that they will cover and obfuscate the truth. Here are a few examples of the NYT “exercising the craft of witnessing and reporting on the truth.”

Over a half century ago, while millions of Russians were being purposefully starved to death in the USSR, Holodomor denier and NYT reporter Walter Duranty wrote in the pages of The New York Times that "any report of a famine in Russia is today an exaggeration or malignant propaganda", and that "there is no actual starvation or deaths from starvation.

NYT's admits it's not its job to verify the truth.

The NYT is now the mouth piece for the Whitehouse while WikiLeaks and individuals like Snowden expose corruption in our government.

It was the Drudge Report not the NTY that exposed Clinton for being a philandering womanizer. Since then it is clear that Drudge is now more important and more widely read than the NYT.

Contrary to what the NTY and old guard media would have you believe, Youtube, blogs, and the independent internet press routinely expose more government corruption and more actual news and truth. It is the common non-professional with her phone camera, blog, or independent web site that exercise the craft of witnessing and reporting the truth, not the old grey lady. Want the truth, lookup CopWatch, or read Drudge, or search Fourth Amendment Abuse on Youtube, but don’t bother with the NYT; the old grey lady is a senile old bat who doesn’t realize or understand the truth, she’s already been replaced.

The NYT and legacy media actively try to protect advertisers, big business, and the government. Consider what it means when Reuters, News Corp., The Washington Post and The San Francisco Chronicle all ignored emails from the tipster, an "Internet activist" known as "Weev," about innocuous data exposing a security breach concerning Apple, which affected 114,000 iPad owners (including White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel!). The all ignored it, so Ryan Tate of Gawker, not the “newspaper of record” got the scoop and the story went viral far exceeding the reach of the NYT. LINK

Legacy media and specifically printed newspapers are dinosaurs, their complicity with the government and general lack of credibility make the words of NYT managing editor Dean Baquet ring both hollow and shallow, carrying absolutely no gravitas. Dean Baquet fearing “that the craft of witnessing and reporting on the truth will die,” is reminiscent of Sophocles’ King Creon.

Press Ignores Brutal Hate Crime, Killer Yells “I Hate Black People”

In a clearly race based hate crime the national media has completely ignored. It seems at Union Square in NYC, a man allegedly went on a rampage in Union Square on Wednesday afternoon and left a complete stranger brain-dead in the process. Jeffrey Babbitt, 62, was minding his own business as he walked through the crowd near the chess boards in Union Square when a man made a hateful announcement and began his rampage, witnesses said.

One woman claimed, “He said ‘the next black person who walks by I’m going to [expletive].” Babbit was the next person, and according to a witness “His fist went in and the man’s head bobbed and he hit the ground and you could hear his skull hitting the ground.”

The National Media have completely ignored what could have been a great headline “NY Man Left Brain Dead By Attacker Shouting 'I Hate Black People'”. It’s bad enough that Martin’s killer got away with murder now another black is murdered by a white guy and the press ignores it.

Why is the press so disinterested?

Firearms are Not What Kill People

Robyn Blummer, liberal columnist and long time anti-gun zealot recently wrote an article about video games and the 1st amendment. It applies to guns and the second amendment. If you use the same logic she uses concerning video games to firearms you can clearly see she isn't a logical thinker.

Firearms are not what kill people

'As long as the firearms industry exists in its present forms there are no secure homes."

This overheated warning of the insidiousness of the firearms threat came from newsmen Piers Morgan, and Ed Schultz. Both thought firearmswere "should be confiscated."

As foolish as he sounds now, their crusade was a hit with lawmakers. Washington DC succeeded in getting the legislature to pass a ban on firearms. The bill was overturned by the SCOTUS on second amendment grounds.

The Second Amendment has stayed the hand of many a would-be gun grabber. When this liberty isn't strongly enforced, however, terrible misjudgment reigns. Remember Diane Feinstein and the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994? She used her power to prevent the sale of scary looking guns.

We look upon these moral dictators now as naive and quaint. But their kind still exists. Sarah Brady launched her crusade targeting handguns only 28 years ago. Her ilk then turned to assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and restrictions on inner city gun ownership, as if firearms caused rather than reflected the violence and misogyny in urban homes and neighborhoods.

Today that same impulse has its attention focused on firearms, particularly after news reports that the Newtown, Conn., shooter, Adam Lanza, obsessively practiced with firearms before killing 20 children and six educators. Almost immediately after the attacks a measure was introduced by Sen. Diane Feinstein, to outlaw certain firearms.

Think the California Democrat had that one in her back pocket?

I can save the congress a lot of time. Lanza is a tragic case, but he's an outlier. There is no body of social scientific evidence demonstrating that firearms are the cause of violent acts or turn a peaceful person into an aggressor in real life.

Just as shooting at sporting clays, plinking at tincans, listening to Ted Nubent, or reading American Rifleman, doesn't cause harm or provoke violence, neither does using a high capacity magazine. It may not be the most productive use of time, but children at a very young age know the difference between real and pretend. As the National 4-H clubs endorse, shooting sports actually have some positive effects on developing children, noting that shooting sports are one of the few sports you can take up at age 7 and still participate in at age 77.

The research on the topic was well considered just two years ago by the U.S. Supreme Court when the majority struck down a Washington DC law criminalizing sales and possession of firearms as unconstitutional. The court looked at the competing studies, including the work of Dr. Lott. Lott claims to have found that more people owning firearms resulted in less not more violent crime.

In the real world, as firearm ownership has increased, rates of violence by young men have gone down, not up. Arrests for violent crime for males between 10 and 24 years of age have plummeted from 850 arrests per 100,000 in 1995 to 516 per 100,000 in 2009, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There have always been people in power who blamed firearms and crime on exposure to firearms. They have always been both wrong and dangerous to our freedoms.

Truth - Casualty of Newton Tragedy

The biggest casualty of the Newton tragedy is the truth. Liberal statist hoplophobes are using the actions of a psychotropic drug addled madman to eviscerate the truth and the bill of rights. They are playing on the emotional turmoil that such an evil act created to attack any who would laud the truth about guns in the USA.

One month ago, the Congressional Research Service released a 113-page report titled, "Gun Control Legislation," authored by William J. Krouse, a "specialist in domestic security and crime policy." The report cites the National Institute of Justice, which indicates that by 2009, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million, approximately one gun for each person in the country: 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns. The fact that we have seen a dramatic increase in firearms ownership accompanied with an equally dramatic decrease in violent crime, is ignored by gun control zealots. The objective truth is that our "gun culture" has resulted in less violent crime and a safer society.

Basically we've doubled the number of guns posses in our culture and decrease the number of murders by half. Guns are used regularly by victims of crime to defend themselves. Mass murders happen in "Gun Free Zones," The Aurora Colorado shooter chose the only theater in his area that posted signs prohibiting the lawful carry of concealed weapons, as his preferred shooting gallery. Compare that to the number of mass shootings at gun ranges.

The truth about laws restricting arms is self evident and long recognized. "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." ~ Thomas Jefferson

The most devastating and massive murder at an American School happened in Bath, Michigan, where 38 children and 7 adults were murdered on May 27, 1927. The school district's treasurer, Andrew Kehoe, detonated a series of improvised explosive devices. At this time the murderer could order a variety of fully automatic machine guns by mail. Obviously readily available guns were not the cause. Both Newton and Bath mass murders of children were the result of the actions of evil men. Lanza and Kehoe are solely responsible for those mass murders, not the tools they chose to do their evil deeds, explosives or guns.

Gun control nuts, are totally disingenuous, the let their hoplophobia and desire to disarm the general public, cloud them from reality. They ignore the other causes of death, or accept other methods of murder, but single out guns not based on empirical evidence but on emotional fear. The cries and wailings of gun control nuts and their objective silence on the two deaths of others recently committed by professional football players is a prime example. Belcher of the Chiefs murdered his girl friend and then shot himself, and the statist left demanded more gun restrictions, but when Price-Brent committed manslaughter using both his car and alcohol killing Jerry Brown Jr. they remain silent. No call to ban booze or cars. You see those same statist lefties like their booze and their cars, but are scared of guns.

When more people drink and drive, more people die. But as the newly released Congressional Research Service report, "Gun Control Legislation", clearly shows as Americans have increased gun ownership, and increased the number of concealed weapons we carry, actual violent crime and murders has gone down. So it is plain that Gun Control Zealots don't actually care about people dying, what they care about is any excuse to increase the scope of government and reduce Americans ability to be self reliant, which depends on their ability to defend themselves.

John Lott, author of "More Guns = Less Crime", has issued a challenge to hoplophobes who are calling for more gun control laws; put a sign on your lawn or in a window of your home: "This is a gun-free zone." To date nobody has taken up his challenge, why?

The truth is rural America has more guns and less violent crime than urban America. Cities like Chicago with severe restrictions and prohibitions on having a gun and using it for self defense, have murder rates higher than many third world countries; even Mexico City has a lower murder rate than Chicago. Gun Control Zealots have no respect for the facts. There have been too many peer reviewed factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt. Gun control laws are not only futile, but have proven to produce problems and more difficulties instead of helping to achieve a goal.

Here is a fact that the press won't cover and is very politically incorrect. White America owns guns at a far greater rate than Black America, but the murder rate is higher among blacks. If you exclude black on black crime, the crime and murder rate in the USA is amongst the lowest in industrialized nations. If you seriously want to address violent crime in the USA, then the place to look is at inner city black culture which is responsible for the majority of violent crime in the USA. Hundreds of black youth have been murdered with guns in Chicago this year alone, the city where laws already prohibit anybody from having a gun. Drive by shootings don't happen in Kennesaw GA, where every head of household is required by law to have a gun. They happen in inner city black neighborhoods, where the community won't rat out black thugs, and vigilante justice not the rule of law reigns. Another ignored fact is that more people have been murdered in the past year without any weapon but with the murder's bare hands than with any rifle, much less a so called "assault" weapon. Where is the call to outlaw people's hands.

Dr. Kleck did some peer reviewed research that showed that regular people use firearms 80 times more often to protect themselves and stop violent crime than firearms are used to commit crime. Gun Control zealots ignore those results, when even their fellow gun haters who are honest about the facts and don't don't like the conclusions, agree with the findings that Dr. Kleck reached. They cannot argue with his impeccable research and methodology. In "A Tribute to a View I Have Opposed," Marvin E. Wolfgang writes that, "What troubles me is the article by Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz. The reason I am troubled is that they have provided an almost clear-cut case of methodologically sound research in support of something I have theoretically opposed for years, namely, the use of a gun in defense against a criminal perpetrator. . . . I have to admit my admiration for the care and caution expressed in this article and this research. Can it be true that about two million instances occur each year in which a gun was used as a defensive measure against crime? It is hard to believe. Yet, it is hard to challenge the data collected. We do not have contrary evidence." Wolfgang wrote that in an article of The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology titled, "A Tribute to a View I Have Opposed."

Of the more than a dozen national polls, including one conducted by The Los Angeles Times,that have found figures comparable to the Kleck-Gertz study. Even the gun hating Clinton Justice Department found there were as many as 1.5 million defensive users of firearms every year. Those studies are over a decade old, newer studies are finding trouble getting funding because those controlling the purse strings, big government statists, won't fund them unless they guarantee pro-gun control results. So unless researchers are willing to suffer the fate of Michael Bellesiles, the Professor of History at Emory University who was forced to resign, when his anti-gun book, "Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture," was found "willingly misrepresented the evidence," they no-longer conduct gun research with pre-conceived conclusions. A three-person committee, composed of scholars from Princeton University, Harvard University and the University of Chicago, concluded that Mr. Bellesiles' work showed "evidence of falsification," "egregious misrepresentation" and "exaggeration of data." Bellesiles' work is evidence that statist left hoplophobes promoting more gun control not only ignore the truth, but will lie to get their desires.

Yes we should keep guns out of the hands of the criminally insane. But the same people who want to disarm America, refuse to lock up crazy people. The perpetrators of 90% of the mass shootings in recent history are known or reasonably suspected to have been prescribed and using psychotropic drugs for mental illness. The research and warnings show that the side effects of psychotropic drugs can be violent unpredictable behavior. The increase in the use of psychotropic drugs on young developing adolescent males closely correlates with the increase in that same group committing evil acts of violence. The side effects of these drugs are known to induce thoughts of suicide, and increased impulsive behavior, yet we continue to use them on our youth. Uninhibited violent behavior is a known and proven side effect of psychotropic drugs. If the goal was less mass murder behavior, and less children murdered, then this not guns, would be the subject of the press and those who care.

More than any other issue, gun owners have proven that they will vote out those in office who attack our right to keep and bear arms. To all our elected officials, remember more gun control laws will result in a loss at the poles regardless of your party. The best example of that is Al Gore, whose anti-gun record cost him his home state of Tennessee, and probably the 2000 election.

Israel's response to terrorism and mass murder directed at schools, was to make sure that there were people voluntarily armed at schools, not every teacher, but enough teacher's, admins, and other private volunteers, so that terrorists and madmen know that they will be confronted with deadly force. Thus Israel eliminated the safe shooting gallery that "gun free schools" create. The truth is, the evil actions of Lanza, do not justify disarming or further restricting guns in America. A determined evil person planning on and willing to take their own life, cannot be stopped by mere laws. Lanza, continued his murder spree until he was confronted by armed law enforcement, where he then killed himself. If he'd been confronted when he first shot his way into the school, not much later when law enforcement finally arrived, he'd have either killed himself or been shot then, not after being given the time to kill 20 innocent children. The truth is "Gun Free Zones" are responsible for the effectiveness of mass murderers who routinely choose these places to commit murderous evil.

The facts don't justify more gun control laws. But then the hoplophobes don't care about truth, and they are supported by statists as their goal is a dependent society who doesn't have the means of self reliance or defense. This country was created by rebels who went to war because the Government actively tried to take away their guns. That's right the first shots fired in the American Revolution were a direct result of the British trying to take away our arms, not taxes, not freedom of religion, not freedom of speech, not the right to vote, but the active assault on private and community arms. This country has attracted and been expanded by people who wanted to be self reliant, and exercise their right to succeed on their own, not on the dictates of some government official. Gun control zealots are horribly mistaken if they think they can legislate away American guns. The people of this country will not willingly relinquish the 310 Million guns we own.

Politifact Loses All Credibility.

Without using even a single outside source it is clear that Politifact has lot's it's credibility.

In claiming that the statement health care reform law a "government takeover" is a lie they clearly have to stretch the meaning of a lie and government takeover.

Here's what they said:

When government determines the limits of insurance coverage and medical fees and patient treatment through price controls, that's not a government takeover of health care. It may feel like one, it may have the same effect as one, but the federal government doesn't actually own the hospitals, clinics and medical practices. It just controls their prices and policies by controlling health insurance. Ergo, any talk of a government takeover of health care is not just wrong but a lie. Indeed, the biggest lie of the year.

To Politifact if the government doesn't own hospitals, clinics, and medical practices they haven't taken them over. They even admit that the Obamacare has the "same effect" as a government takeover, but because they don't actually "own" the physical property they haven't taken over health care.

Since when has taking over something equated to owning something. Lots of bullies have taken over a playground without owning the property. Nobody would argue that TSA hasn't taken over control of airport security without actually owning the airports.

Obviously the credibility of Politifact as a source to determine if a politician in telling the truth or not has been dramatically compromised. Politifact has lost its credibility, and cannot be trusted, especially if the subject in question concerns Obama and his policies.

Liberal Lies on Firearms

The New York Daily News has a headline over a picture of a Mac-10 submachine gun that reads The MAC-10: The gun used in Time Square shooting, used by John Wayne, Bruce Willis in films.
It notes facts like:

Some facts about the gun used in Thursday's Times Square shooting:
- The MAC-10 is a handheld submachine gun that weighs about 6 pounds, can hold 30 bullets in its magazine and fire more than 1,000 rounds a minute.

If you actually read the very short article you’ll find that the criminal in question did not use the illegal submachine gun, but completely legal semi-automatic pistol called the Masterpiece Arms 9-mm. It shoots exactly One round every time you pull the trigger, just like a revolver. With the crappy trigger, and action of the cheap Masterpiece Arms 9-mm pistol, if well maintained, an expert might get off one round a second, as if you try to shoot it any faster it has a reputation for jamming. Except for its shape, it operates no differently and uses the same ammo as a common World War I pistols like German Luger, except that it’s less reliable, less accurate, and more poorly made. Luckily the Times Square shooter chose a scary looking weapon instead of a well made weapon, and the fine NYPD have ridded us permanently of this criminal.

In the article describing the shooting the Daily News says:

Bullets whizzed through Times Square Thursday when a street hustler armed with a fearsome MAC-10 lost a gunfight with a veteran cop

And

He pulled the stolen semi-automatic murder machine

You just gotta love NYC sensationalism, it is fun to read, just not truthful. First the lie, as their other article reported it wasn’t a MAC-10. Second the “murder machine” quote, sensationalistic but not accurate, it’s no more a murder machine than a car (which kill far more people), or a knife, or rope, or a wrench, or a candlestick. The old board game, Clue, notes lots of tools that can be used to commit murder. Other reports note that the gun jammed after a couple rounds were fired (note: don’t buy, or even steal, cheap weapons for self defense just because they look scary). The obviously less than brilliant criminal, and rapper, because of choosing cool over reliable is now pushing up daisies. This is just the story of a stupid criminal rapper wannabe who thought a cheap scary looking pistol would make him a badass and he’d become famous like Diddy or Jay-Z.

Why isn’t the post noting that the law, which makes having an unpermitted pistol in NYC illegal, doesnt work. Obviously the 20,000 laws concerning guns didn’t stop this criminal from acquiring a weapon. How could more laws have made any difference, the criminal was willing to and did break a bunch of laws, more laws would make no difference. Mayor Bloomburg, predictably, is using this event to call for more restrictive gun laws.

I love this quote “Cops said they had recovered 26 high-powered guns, such as the MAC-10, this year”. Two lies in one short sentence, the gun in question wasn’t a MAC-10, and it isn’t a “high-powered” gun. A 9mm semi-automatic pistol is generally considered minimal for self protection, most police forces have either never used them or replaced 9mm weapons with the higher powered weapons because of the rounds ineffectiveness. They did note that the 26 "high-powered" weapons were of 5427, if you do the math you'll see that less than one half of one percent of the recovered guns are like the MAC-10. Criminals choosing this type of weapon is obviously not much of a problem.

The Daily News depends on the ignorance of the public for it's lies to go unnoticed. The left is again demonstrating that it is more than willing to use lies and scare tactics to restrict the liberty of citizens.
